about down-time

The comic:

Adventure and Fantasy, serious but with fan service.

In another time and another place, Avatars and Elementals walked among the humanoid races seeking power and supremacy or their own obscure purposes. The magic avatars have long been a dwindling group, but finding their power more concentrated in the few newer arrivals from the elemental realms.

The wizards or "Luminesences", fearing for their safety, setup pocket realms isolated from the primary realm of humans where the avatars fought. The few avatars that made their way to these places found their power was diminished while they remained in these separate realms. The Wizards used this to their advantage, studying, destroying, enslaving and occasionally befrending their elemental adversaries.

Durin, our hero, is a magic avatar (a bigger better kind of elemental) struggling to find his place in the realms of men and wizards in the midst of the elemental's ongoing war for control.

Dagen Malasar, war wizard.

Loraina, Fighter Thief.

Tae, Wizard. I know there should be a female equivalent to Wizard, and it's probably Witch, but that has a whole different set of connotations.

Welcome to my dream.

I'm an artist by obsession, a computer person by vocation, and a writer at heart. I've written stories and made up worlds since I was young. I began majoring in creative writing in college, but I switched to computers after playing with them, and realizing I would probably starve as a writer.

I have no delusions that I compare to those who inspire me like Megatokyo and the guys at Penny-Arcade. I've only really been drawing since '99. So I consider myself fairly new at this. Unlike people who major in art, I have to force myself to sit down and draw, rather than play on my X Box.

I've redesigned the page, for the fourth time (5/23/2005), and it's way more automatic now with PHP code and crap like that. I have about three chapters sketched out which is probably 180 pages worth. I hope you enjoy the manga, pseudo-manga, comic, webcomic... whaever the hell this is. Just enjoy it dammit.

later,
jonathan
